Autumn in New York
Hop on the bus Gus!
Whatya do on your summer vacation? Well get out your sweaters and plaid skirts 'cause school is back in session! NYC kids don't ride a bus to school - they hop on the subway! And their New York parents? They magically appear at their own desks the day after Labor Day. And the city takes on an exciting autumnal buzz. The season kicks off officially with the US Open, Metropolitan Opera Gala and the famous San Gennaro Feast in Little Italy. It's a great time to visit New York. We're all back and raring to go! Did I mention the World Series? Go Yankees! -- Tony

The fall promises to be "le jazz hot" as Jazz at Lincoln Center in the new Time Warner Building opens its doors. Manhattan is Modern again as MoMa returns from sojourn in Queens! Jazz at Lincoln Center is the hottest ticket in town. This unique venue offers unmatched flexibility for gala dinners and meetings. All of the spaces are very diverse and the crown jewel is the 50-foot glass wall that allows guests to dance while hovering above the autumn leaves of Central Park.
At MoMa, guests can dance along side the Van Gogh's and Picassos when the museum opens in November (to coincide with its 75th anniversary). With 630,000 square feet, it's nearly twice the size of it's predecessor. The six-story gallery building includes double-height floors, spacious galleries, and a sky-lit top floor. MoMa is truly the ultimate venue in which to throw a sophisticated party.

Perhaps Lady Day put it best: "Autumn in New York/Why does it seem so inviting?/Autumn in New York/It spells the thrill of first-nighting." Premieres are plentiful, while the old standards still thrill to the music of the night. The Beach Boys are surfing in to see All Shook Up!. There will be laughing in the aisles from Dame Edna and Billy Crystal's one man shows. The musical La Cage aux Folles will drag in with some Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. And soon, Little Women will be flying high in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car over B'Klyn!. And oh yeah, Richard III will be played by a little person. "What hump?"
