The 2003 Tony Awards

And the winner is...The award goes to..."You like me, you really like me!" What a month. The Tonys, the Beards, the Heros, the Anchors... It seemed like everyone was winning an award. Except for me! But I did attend the Tony Awards and for once it was actually better in person. And in our office it seemed like it was Tony's award month! Our very own "Tony" Napoli won the Off Broadway "Local Hero" award, was elected to the board of directors of Second Stage, and chaired NYC&Co's "Anchors of Hospitality Awards". Tony presented the Anchor for Incentive Travel in NYC to Jeff Reinberg, president and CEO of Maritz Travel Company. Miss Ruby won for most senior K9 at the dog run (15 years and still going strong), and I'm off to the local karaoke bar to see if I can't win for best rendition of Mr. Cellophane from Chicago. --Gary Newman

What better way to make guests feel like stars in New York City than with their own
Tony Award party. Recreate the most popular awards show in New York City with paparazzi and news reporters. Cameras flash while screaming fans try to get the autographs of the celebrities; your honored guests.
The night will begin with celebrity look-alikes mingling with the guests during cocktails
creating many wonderful photo opportunities.
During dinner singers and dancers recreate scenes from the American Musical Theatre,
including Phantom of the Opera, 42nd Street, and The Lion King.
The true highlight of the evening is the specially created awards given out to this year's
"winners."
New York City is home to many amazing parties, invite your guests to one of the best of the year! --Brooke Barnes

Even restaurant and chefs get awards! Esquire Magazine bestowed the Chef of the Year Award to Michael White of Fiamma (see February 2003 newsletter). The James Beard Award for best new restaurant went to L'Impero. Like Tutor City's secluded streets and courtly buildings, L'Impero seems
untouched by time or trend. Hidden behind an Italianate courtyard, past a cozy,
blue-lit nook of a bar, sits un pretentious, split-level dining room warmed by
tall candelabras. An all-ages crowd eases into teal and plum banquettes, pampered
by outstanding service and fine Italian cuisine. --Anthony Napoli
