Second Annual June Briggs Award winners
|
The weather outside may have been frightful, but the company was so delightful at the second annual June Briggs Awards for DMC Excellence in NYC for 2003. Friends who were near to us and dear to us gathered at Remi to honor the four winners.
But the action is also hot in another part of town, the Meatpacking District. When it comes down to it, New York City is a mosaic of small neighborhoods, each with its own very distinct character, charm and redolence. We would love to explore these fascinating areas with you when you are in town. Maybe we can venture to DUMBO! (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) — the new SoHo of NYC! -- Tony Napoli

Looking for the hippest new area in New York? Look no further than Manhattan's white-hot Meatpacking District. Here you will find a tasty stew of trendy restaurants, bars, designer stores, art galleries and sleek hotels. For decades, The Meatpacking District, also known as Gansevoort Market, was an industrial center for the processing of meats, but now it has quickly become one of the most decadent locations for nightlife in New York. This once commercial, largely vacant area is now home to some of New York's most exclusive clubs and restaurants. You may even recognize some hot spots from Sex and the City! -- Tom Borchard

Treat your guests to a show before the show, with a visit to the frisky and oh-so
French bistro Chez Josephine! This rococo restaurant combines great fun with good
food and nonstop music. Every night's a party at this flamboyant establishment
nestled on 42nd Street in the theater district.
The irrepressible host, Jean-Claude Baker, has created an exuberant homage to his
adoptive mother Josephine Baker, the chanteuse who was the toast of Paris in the
'20s and 30's. Part museum and always entertaining, the eclectic fare, chic crowd,
and theatrical decor give you a Paris-in-New York feel.
Mr. Baker and his attentive staff not only nourish the hungry but they feed
The Hungry Heart (the title of Mr. Baker's New York Times's best-seller about his
beloved adoptive mother) at this legendary New York hot-spot.

Watching young passionate Elphaba contrasted by her squeaky clean school roommate Glinda, audiences quickly learn about the origins of Oz's longest running feud.
