It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since
the first June Briggs Awards when 50 of us gathered in a small
private room at Remi’s. This year over 200 of the Briggs Hospitality
Partners celebrated in the spectacular Mandarin Oriental Hotel
Ballroom. Our annual thank-you to our colleagues has grown not only
in size but also in our gratitude to them, the secret of Briggs
success. And yes, you would be smiling too, if you were standing
next to Kevin Duda (pictured left) from the cast of The Book of
Mormon, who performed at our awards that night. Congratulations
to all! |

"As you look around the ballroom
tonight, you will see the beautiful décor of one our most valued
and creative partners. They are always there for us from the
smallest elegant centerpiece for a corporate dinner; to turning
an empty loft space into a chic supper club setting; or an
elaborate design that can transform The Central Park Zoo to a
South Pacific Island fantasy. And even the occasional wedding,
ahem!
The 10th annual June Briggs Award goes to ZAK Events, Zak
Kunish, President and Designer, accepting."

"This is the first year we are
presenting an award to an out-of-towner and to a client. We have
been lucky to have been partnering with this esteemed Minneapolis
incentive house for more than 20 years. And they are no stranger to
this building and the Mandarin. Three years in a row they brought a
high profile automotive company for their annual meeting, held
downstairs at Jazz at Lincoln Center with many a gala dinner in this
very ballroom. So for their continuing support in bringing incentive
programs to New York City…
The 10th annual June Briggs Award goes to BI Worldwide, Bruce
Scheimo, Division Vice President, accepting." |

"The famous musical, The Producers, was
all about an outrageous scam to rip off investors and make money on
Broadway. Well this is no scam. This preeminent theatre owner,
besides housing some of the highest grossing shows on Broadway, gives
back to the artistic community. When Briggs buys tickets for our
clients from one of their shows, like The Book of Mormon, Jersey Boys
or How to Succeed, 5% of the ticket price is donated to the charity
of their choice. And that is so key in today’s era of Corporate
Social Responsibility. “So Mr. Producer, I’m talking to you sir” -
The 10th annual June Briggs Award goes to Givenik, Jordan Roth,
President of the Jujamcyn Theatres, accepting."

"In 1985, New York’s own top chef helped
revitalize TriBeCa when he opened up his iconic restaurant
Montrachet and put Downtown Manhattan on the culinary map. He
re-introduced German/Austrian cuisine at his beautiful Secessionist
inspired restaurant, Danube. And now at his newest restaurant,
Brushstroke, New Yorkers are discovering Kaiseki, Japanese food
culture excitingly integrated with American ingredients. His
culinary empire rules downtown. However, it is his heroic efforts in
2001 to feed the volunteers in the aftermath of 9/11 that
demonstrates the true mettle of his passion and love for our great
city. And for that…
The 10th annual June Briggs Award goes to master chef and
restaurateur, Mr. David Bouley."
