| "June in January" | 5th Annual June Briggs Award Recipients | |||||
It's June in January! On Jan. 8, 2007 the June Briggs Awards for Excellence in Destination Management Services in New York City were held at '21' Club. Over 180 of Briggs' family of clients, vendors, hotels and staff feasted at the fabulous cocktail party provided by '21' in celebration of a job well done in 2006. The two highlights of the evening were our Managing Director, Gary Newman's reading from the work of Dorothy Parker (see my blog) and a very special appearance by Tommaso Verdillo, the famous Brooklyn restaurateur, who sang "The Wind Beneath My Wings." Of course, the main event was the awards:

| The London NYC Hotel | Dizzy's Club Coca Cola | |||||
Well the new star in town is The London Hotel (previously the Rihga Royal Hotel). I asked them why it was called The London and I was told that their market research named London as the most popular business destination so.. (go figure that one!) The lobby has been reoriented and the check-in desk moved out from the back. The property is all suite and the decor can be described as corporate chic. This may be the next five star hotel in NYC. London's other claim to NY fame is the opening of a restaurant run by TV Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsey.

Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola is an intimate cabaret hotspot in the Jazz at Lincoln Center complex in the Time Warner Building. Unlike most historical and modern-day jazz venues, Dizzy's soars several stories above the expansive vista of Central Park. After entering through an inviting mural hallway, the patrons of Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola enter the club proper, the walls of which are lined with seductively curved bamboo. An intimate room designed specifically to accommodate the top live jazz artists of today, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola also offers full service dining, and a soulful menu of down-home flavors with New York flair. | |||||
| Russian Tea Room | Spring Awakening | |||||
The Russian Tea Room is back! Ever since members of the Russian Imperial Ballet founded the restaurant in 1927, it has been a second home for boldface names and the intellectual elite—an exclusive enclave where actors, writers, politicians, and businessmen planned their next deals and celebs discussed their friends’ latest Carnegie Hall performances. After 4 years, the Russian Tea Room has reopened its doors, retaining the best of its history, authenticity, and architecture while offering fresh innovations. Openings:
