| Nom de Plume | A New Face in Times Square "Juniors" | |||||
Remember the scene from the great French play, Cyrano de Bergerac, when Cyrano comes out from under the shadows of the balcony and reveal his panache to Roxanne? So it may come as a great surprise that that Briggs Beat is written by me. Wow, that means that Tony has a sense of humor! LOL What is that saying? "Behind every great man is another great man". Gary was the innovator of Briggs Beat and about a year ago I took up the pen. So from now on all the bad jokes, puns, photos - c'est moi. Glutton for punishment? I am starting a blog this month where I will give my candid opinions on the NYC cultural scene, restaurants and vie de boheme! As they say on the Lower East Side, "So take a look!" |

| Rooftop Garden Space at 620 Fifth Avenue | Katz Deli | |||||
A long term Rockefeller Center tenant moved out, and now it is possible to host a cocktail party on one of the exclusive private garden terraces in New York City. With breathtaking views of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Saks Fifth Avenue and Rock Center Skating Rink, this is a perfect vantage point to view the Christmas Tree in December. or enjoy the grass and bubbling fountain in warmer months. An adjacent interior loft-like space is available for dinner as backup for inclement weather. So if you want to feel like John D. himself, now is the time to host a party on this fabulous aerie. |
It's still there, still real and it's still the place to have "what she's having" (When Harry Met Sally). Katz's Deli is an 1888 icon of the Jewish Lower East Side where the "brisket rivals mother's" and the pastrami melts in your mouth. This New York institution is sure to arouse your senses. Direct from Brooklyn, Juniors another NYC Deli institution, has opened in the heart of Times Square.

| Gramercy Park Hotel | A Chorus Line | |||||
The Gramercy Park Hotel's Haute Bohemian heritage has been honored and renewed in the transformation by Ian Schrager. It represents a sensuous vision of artful diversity. This is Bohemia reinvented for the 21st century with an original combination of styles, great pieces of furniture, art and the extraordinary use of color. It is a balancing act which only Schrager could pull off; this fresh approach represents a new departure for him. It brings together a number of creative forces, not chosen for their compatibility, but for their shared commitment to the modern lifestyle.
