January 2006

The Briggs Bandito - Arriba Arriba!      Briggs in Mexico City:
Bravo and Ole! 2006 is off to a spectacular start! Bravo to Briggs for being named by Special Events Magazine as one of the 25 Top DMC's in the World.
Bravi to our Fourth Annual June Briggs Awards winners at a very special evening on January 5, at Rainbow Room. There was a warm glow atop the GE Building as our winners were feted with wine, food and a very special custom song!
Ole! The Briggs Team jetted off to Mexico City the following week, where Go Mexico, Mexico City's premiere DMC, planned a very special incentive trip for us. We climbed the Aztec Pyramids, sung with the Mariachi and we ate some worms! Ole to the office team members who took a bull fighting class with a real bull and a matador who taught all the cape moves - especially how to move away from the Toro! Adios amigos!

Alto Restaurant, named for Alto Adige, highlights the very special Friullian cuisine where Austria meets Italy. As you walk past a waterfall and a piece of the Berlin Wall, you enter a cool sleek modernistic setting. The famous chef of L'Impero, Scott Conant, bridges the two Tyrolean worlds where gnocchi and dumplings and Sacher Torte and Chocolate Steamed Polenta Pudding cross the borders of international dining. Alto features a selection of over seven hundred different wines, showcasing the Grand Cru's of Europe.

NEIGHBORHOOD NOSH TOUR
Often wondered where all the teeming masses landed after passing through Ellis Island? The Lower East Side is the melting pot of today's and yesterday's New York immigrants. Filled with sights and sounds and most importantly, the smells of ethnic cooking, this tour features the cultures as well as cuisine of our ancestors. Nosh is Yiddish for snack or to eat lightly. So join us for some noshing while we explore. Sample maybe some knish or kosher dill on Orchard Street, dim sum in Chinatown, cannoli in Little Italy, and plantains on Avenue B.

Sample foods for thought:
Pastrami
Dim Sum
Matzoh
Bialy
