An
Easter Bonnet represents the tradition of wearing new clothes at
Easter, in harmony with Spring and the promise of spiritual renewal
and redemption. The "Easter bonnet" was fixed in popular culture by
Irving Berlin, whose frame of reference was the Easter parade in New
York City, a festive walkabout that makes its way down Fifth Avenue
from St. Patrick's Cathedral:
In your Easter bonnet
with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade.
In the Spirit of Easter and giving back, we have created an Easter
Bonnet contest to raise funds for charity. The ladies of Briggs have
each created their own Easter Bonnet. Please vote for your favorite
bonnet (see details below), and Briggs will make a donation to the
charity of the winner’s choice – one dollar for each winning vote
cast.
